Craig Yamamoto

I design and build custom furniture which is meticulously crafted from fine hand-selected hardwoods. Each piece is crafted with uncompromising attention to detail and primarily finished with a hand-rubbed oil/wax finish. My designs draw inspiration from Japanese and Shaker craftsmen and convey simplicity, elegance, and functionality. Interlocking joinery is incorporated to optimize durability. In addition to my own designs I often convert customer ideas into reality.

I regard each piece of wood that I select as having a vital connection to our environment and seek out pieces with a distinct personality resulting in unique, one-of-a-kind creations. Each piece is crafted with the intention of reincarnating its natural beauty in a new form that will be used and treasured for generations. I realize that many exotic hardwoods are endangered and I am committed to working only with woods that are harvested from sustainable sources.

I design and create primarily on commission, specializing in home and office furnishings, and built-in or free-standing architectural detail elements that will meet the needs and high expectations of my customers. From my studio on Whidbey Island in Washington state, I can ship anywhere in the world.
